Hi Chip! The term microblogging and lifestreaming are often used interchangeably. I agree with you, this is technically more microblogging than lifestreaming (according to Wikipedia) and perhaps I should have named the post more appropriately. Using this method you could in fact have links, photos, videos, quotes, etc. Something similar to the blog over at 37signals. This method does not allow you to automatically "aggregate" from other social media sites. Like I said, there seems to be some ambiguity between the two terms and because "lifestreaming" is relatively new I am not sure it's scope has been clearly defined.

So, this is a very interesting implementation. I like it. I may even incorporate something like it into my own site.

But, is it really *lifestreaming*?

IMHO, lifestreaming means incorporation of one’s other micro-blogging and social-network activities (e.g. twitter, identi.ca, facebook, flickr, etc.) into one’s blog.

What this post calls “lifestreaming” is really just link-blogging (a la InstaPundit, etc.).

Or am I missing something?

As mentioned earlier, I did a bit of playing around with this whole idea. Your code worked like a dream and I have implemented my version of this on my own blog. I do think that this is a neat idea and I am sure it is something that we all will be hearing a lot more of in the near future.

This is very interesting. I feel that this is something that one will have to give a try and then see for yourself if it works for your blog or not. When I get back from work later today I will definitely be experimenting with this. Thanks for giving me something to think about.
