Two Versions of Vigilance?
There was a really good question in the comments that we thought deserved some clarification. We don’t want the Vigilance community to misinterpret the PRO Membership offering.
I’ve just started using your theme, and so far I have been very impressed. While the PRO version sounds great, what are the future plans for the free version? Will it be left by the wayside and just the PRO version be developed in future?
We want to assure you that there is only one “version” of Vigilance and it is and always will be free and open source.
Referring to a “free version” and “PRO version” is misleading. PRO members and regular users both download the latest version of Vigilance from the same location. PRO members simply get a slew of added benefits: full access to the support forums, unlimited theme support, priority upgrades, tutorials, customization tips, members only add-ons, and other cool stuff. They do not download a different version of Vigilance.
We hope this clears things up. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

That’s cleared things up. I was concerned that there would be two versions, and typically where this has happened with other software etc, the free version is forgotten, or remains several versions behind the paid-for version.

The only thing I have noticed, is that the links to the old tutorials on the right hand column are now only for paying users. Will there be a mini user guide for the free version too?
As of right now the user guide will only be available to PRO members.
To someone completely new to web design and all of this I really liked your theme. However, now it seems that I cannot even get access to the basic tutorial which makes me wish that I had copied it only for my own reference because I tell you, I have referred to this site often. But, not often enough that I can afford a paid forum feature. I’m disappointed that the basic information is not going to be available as it was. You have a remark on the other page about there not being two versions although it separates them pretty clearly if one cannot figure out how to make basic changes.

Sorry to hear you disappointed about the tutorials being for PRO members. We feel that PRO Membership offers a really compelling value for the price. We offer Vigilance completely free to everyone, but if you need help or want extra features we ask you buy a PRO Membership, we think that is a pretty fair deal for everyone involved.
does this “PRO Feature” in big letters next to the custom logo otion mean that this feature is only available to “pro customers”? well, if so, isn’t it two versions in the long run? * wonder*

There is 1 version that everyone downloads for free. PRO members download a Child Theme with extra features. It isn’t a different “version”, it is just extra features. I guess if you want to call that a different version you are free to do so :)

i really like your theme and am honestly thinking about purchasing the pro membership. however, i had so many themes installed for a week or two and then changed it again that i think i will wait a bit longer. or is there anykind of a demo for the pro membership?
Glad that helps. We don’t offer a demo of PRO membership. We consider Vigilance itself a permanent free demo. PRO just has extra features and support.
It would be helpful, to the prospective purchaser and to your sales, to know what the PRO features are?
There is a big image banner in the top right of this site that shows most of the features. If you click on it you can see all of the features and sign-up.
People are asking if the themes are different. No, they are not different. The difference is that you used to be able to see information about how to change things on your site, but now you have to pay to see anything.
Although the theme apparently offers some new features and nice a person who once had it downloaded as a free theme has no other option really except to pay to figure out how to make the changes.

You are right, there is only 1 version of Vigilance. PRO members just get a ton of cool extra benefits, including add-ons (custom logo, page templates), support forums, tutorials, and more! We think it is a great deal. We are sorry you don’t feel the same way, but we still value your input. Thanks!

Wow Drew. Bravo, man. This is going up at ptmoney.com very soon. I was looking for a Thesis alternative for a long time. Hey, I’m a frugal guy. :) But will definitely consider the support at some point. Again, excellent theme.
Your theme is great! However, I bought into a theme where you pay for “support” via a support forum and it is awful. THe developer never answers questions and clearly the theme (useability) isn’t for newbies, nor as easy as was advertised. It is a well known theme with a wonderful fresh design like yours. So, even though yours is priced at an incredibly reasonable rate (his is $89) I’m just a little bit leary about getting on board. Convince me. :) Thanks.

I encourage you to take a look at the support forums and you will find that we are pretty quick to resolve member questions.
Vigilance has many built in features that can be customized through the theme options menu and I encourage you to give them a try. I am not going to make the outrageous claim you can do anything you want without any coding knowledge whatsoever, because it simply isn’t true about Vigilance or any other WordPress theme. The cool thing about Vigilance is you can try it free before you sign up for PRO membership. Download it, give it a whirl, and see what you think. PRO membership gives you extra benefits, tutorials, and support. Hope this helps!
