To celebrate yesterday’s big release of our new Make theme, we’re holding a contest. Two chosen winners will receive a 1 year Foundry Pro membership, which includes Make Plus and all 12 of our WordPress themes. Foundry Pro is valued at $199.

Here’s how you can win:

Did you know that Surf Office, Postmatic, Yeah Dave, and over 700,000 small businesses run their websites with Make, our free WordPress page builder. Discover the Make page builder now.

  1. Download Make for free and install it on your WordPress website.
  2. Build a website with Make. The drag and drop page builder and customization options makes this part really easy! If you need help, don’t forget to read the Make theme documentation.
  3. Add a link to your website in the comments of this post or tweet with the hashtag #maketheme.

The contest will end next Wednesday May 28th. We’ll then announce the winners and also feature their sites in a blog post.

If you have any questions, let us know in the comments!

Looking great Ann! Thanks for the submission!

This theme answers so many problems I was having with my old blog and gives me so much more potential to grow into a full portfolio site- thank you!!!! The only problem is I can’t get the logo to work in customizer. I’ve tried multiple browsers, 2 computers (a mac and PC) and two file types. Has anyone else had this problem?

I want to fall in love with this theme, but I need that logo!

    Thank you,

Looks great Kristyn! I’ll pass this along to the team and we’ll take a look at the logo issue. It certainly should be working :(

I find that the customiser doesn’t work when you have Make Plus activated, have tried on Mac and Windows. Without Make Plus activated though the logo works fine for me

    Hey Ann,

We had an issue with this late last week. You’ll need to download and install Make Plus 1.0.2, which will fix this problem. Sorry for the inconvenience!

    Hi Kristyn!

So sorry to hear about the custom logo issues.

Can you tell me more about the issue? How did you try to upload the logo? What happened when you attempted to upload it? What were you expecting to happen?

I definitely want to help you sort this out. If we can get some more information, we can be of more assistance.

Hi Zach, (and Ann and Drew!) Thank you for your responses.

First let me make sure I have the right expectations. When I load a logo, should I see it in the header? And if I turn off the title and tagline, should I just see the logo? I’m looking to make a custom header.

Here was my process of loading the logo: I opened customizer, opened the drop down logo section, and clicked “select a file” (I also tried the drag and drop method.) I uploaded files successfully with both methods, (.jpg and .png), but they don’t appear anywhere on my site.

Did I do something wrong or am I expecting something that it isn’t designed to do?

    Hi Kristyn!

It sounds like you are doing everything correctly. It also sounds like your expectations are right on.

I think I know the issue that you are facing. We recently discovered an incompatibility with the custom logo feature and Jetpack’s Photon. It looks like you are using that on your site.

Fortunately, we have patched the issue and it will be available in version 1.0.7. The update is currently in review on WordPress.org. As soon as it is ready, you should see an update notice in your WordPress admin.

I realize the contest has expired (and I haven’t yet finished my site), but I thought I’d post a link to my site anyway: dhayton.haverford.edu

Make along with Make Plus is a great set of tools for developing a website. Thanks for the good work.

  10. Drew Strojny

Thanks Darin! I couldn’t get your site to load at that address, is it live?

    Hi Drew,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. I’ve been in and out of town lately. And I’m sorry for the problem with the site. Our brilliant IT dept. screwed up transferring my site to a new server and updating the DNS entries (along with some other screw ups). Anyway, it should be live now. Let me know if you can’t find it: http://dhayton.haverford.edu

    Hey Darin!

The site looks great! Nice work. Thanks for sharing :)

My site is still under construction, but I have to say…

I’ve fallen in love with Make.

I can’t quite justify the cost of Make Pro at the moment, but the free version is certainly sufficient for most of what I plan to do with my site.

    Keep up the great work!

Note: I’ve built a ton of sites over the years and Make may have just become my go-to theme for site creation. The Make foundation is phenomenal.

We are very excited to hear this, Brad! Excellent looking website!
