Helping put the premium in WordPress.com themes
By Drew Strojny on February 3, 2011
I am excited to announce a huge collaboration that has been brewing for quite some time. Our very own Shelf theme just launched as one of the first premium themes on WordPress.com! WordPress.com users may now purchase Shelf directly from their dashboard or by clicking through the link on the new Shelf Showcase page.
Needless to say, we are honored and humbled to be chosen to help launch this service. Shelf, along with Headlines from WooThemes, are the first two premium themes available on WordPress.com.
I would like to say thanks to the awesome folks at Automattic for helping make this a reality. Especially the amazing theme team of Lance Willett, Ian Stewart, and Matias Ventura. It has been a pleasure working side by side with you guys to get this project launched.

Oh wow! Congrats guys, this is an amazing milestone!
Great work!
Cheers,

Congratulations. I like when good things happen to good people.
That’s awesome guys, and that theme is amazing! Love that it was chosen!
I’m still very interested in Shelf, and I see that it supports the custom menu option. Can you explain whether it supports WordPress pages at all? Where would a custom menu appear if I created one? Thanks.
big congrats!
I wish you luck with this – it will be interesting to see how the wp.com marketplace evolves in 2011.

Congrats! You guys do awesome work – glad to know that more WordPress users will get the awesomeness that Shelf (and ThemeFoundry) provides!
Thanks for all the positive support, we appreciate it :)
@David It does support pages, they look the same as the default “text” post. A custom menu would only go in the navigation area.
More to come, maybe? When will you be adding more themes (like Linen, which I like a lot) to WordPress’s premium theme collection?
Hi Gerry!
Be sure to keep an eye on the WordPress.com blog for any announcements of new themes :)
Hello,
I like your themes very much.
The themes that you designed and that are featured on wordpress.com have all the features of the “pro” themes?
If I’m applying to my wordpress.com blog one of your premium themes, bought through wordpress.com, later on if I will decide to move on self hosted can I use the same theme that I paid for or is it necessary to buy it again?
Cheers,
Horia
Hi Horia,
Any theme you buy on WordPress.com is for use on only WordPress.com, you will need to purchase a self-hosted copy from our site.
I bought the item and the following appears (in spanish):
Puede desplazar la barra utilizando las teclas ← y &arr;
how do I fix it or how I hide?
elsewhere (in English) is shown correctly.
thanks, Javier
sorry,
(in English) is shown correctly.
You can scroll the shelf using ← and → keys
thanks, Javier
Hi Javier!
I believe you are on WordPress.com, and we are trying to help you out in the forums over there. It’s probably better we just have the conversation over there instead of in the comments here.
