January 2012 Theme Updates

by Andy Adams on January 17, 2012 / 8 comments

If you’ve been subscribing to our “theme specific” RSS feeds, please update your reader with the new “Theme Updates” feed. Going forward we’ll always release our updates in batches, making the individual theme feeds unnecessary. All update posts going forward will only be posted to the “Theme Updates” category and corresponding feed.

Happy 2012, everyone!

We try to keep our themes current by responding to customer requests and bugs every so often.

This time is no different – over the last couple of weeks we’ve gone through and made a round of updates to all of our WordPress themes, with mostly minor bug cleanup for many of the themes.

One major addition – we’ve added Google Plus icons to all of our themes that have “social site” support – that means Anthem, Linen, Paperpunch, Photography, React, Shelf, Titan and Traction all now feature a hand-crafted Google Plus icon, configurable on your Theme Options page.

Also, Duet received some much-requested stylistic tweaks – removing the author from pages and hiding the “Read More” link when there is no “more” tag on a post are the most notable.

Download the latest package from your downloads page, and check the changelog for specific details for your theme. Of course, we’re always looking for more feedback – so if you have any questions, comments or suggestions feel free to contact us or write a comment below!

I was wondering if you would consider adding a Pinterest button for the social links to Linen? It is becoming increasingly popular and I would love to include it on my site. Thanks!

    Hi Julie!

Thanks for the suggestion. It’s definitely on our radar, we just need to figure out a clean way to accomodate everyone’s favorite social links without making a mess :)

I was wondering if there was any thought being given to adding code to your themes to support a modified version for iphone or android?

I love my Titan Pro and have been very happy you and your staff, but wonder if modifying the blog content for mobile would be better or not.

The blog looks clean and good in a mobile browser and allows me to have advertising associated, but am not sure if the mobile phone reshaping would help readers or would limit advertising.

I also wonder if it would increase my bounce rate, limiting people from reading other articles.

Wondering what your thoughts are on this.

Hi Phillip, we’re using responsive design with all our newer themes, which automatically adjusts to better fit mobile devices. Our older themes (like Titan) will still look good on mobile devices but you might have to more zooming :)

I’m not sure about the implications of a mobile friendly design on advertising.

I’m with Julie! Really looking forward to seeing a Pinterest button added to Linen. :)

I’d just like to say how much I’d also like to see a Pinterest button. Are there currently other social buttons like Facebook, Twitter and Google+?
