Launch: Memberful Beta

by Drew Strojny on January 30, 2013 / 6 comments

We’ve been working hard on a new service for well over a year now and I’m really excited to share it with you. It’s called Memberful, and we’re now accepting beta customers. Memberful makes it easy to sell your digital downloads: software, graphics, fonts, icons, templates, themes, plugins, etc. You can also use Memberful to monetize your content by selling monthly or yearly subscriptions to your website. Head over to the site to learn more and sign up.

Memberful is really easy (like point and click) to set up. It also optionally integrates quickly with WordPress via a plugin. We’ve been using it for a year now here at The Theme Foundry to sell our WordPress themes on this WordPress powered website. If you’re the technical type, we also have an API available for integrating Memberful with any third-party CMS or custom application.

We’re really excited about Memberful, and hope you are too!

    Congrats on the launch Drew.

Is Memberful itself built upon WordPress or a different tech stack?

    Drew!

As a long time fan of Jestro / Theme Foundry I’ve been wating for this for ages. Well done. I like the demo. Unfortunately I’m in the UK and Stripe is limited to USA and Canada. It was a tad frustrating to discover that after having clicked on the “Sign up for the beta”. Might I suggest flagging that somewhere in the bumph (perhaps the excellent “Answers to some common questions”.

    Kind regards,

    Chris.

Thanks for the support Chris! Great idea. I’ll make a note to add something in the questions area about Stripe and the UK. I know they’re working hard on being available soon in the UK, so hopefully it isn’t too long.

So I have a service where I design a logo or website for people. Right now I have not yet intergrated a purchase service onto my website. Pretend someone came to my site, and bought a service from me, such as a logo. They of course would be paying for the service of designing a logo, and not buying a predesigned one. Would Memberful be useful in this setting? Would I be able to add custom downloads to each paying customer? In otherwords, person A buys a logo design session from me and can come back later, login, and the design is there waiting for person A to download?

    Hi Ron,

Good question! Memberful is more for selling the same download over and over again or for protecting and monetizing content. It probably could be used in the manner you’re referring to, but it’s not built with that flow in mind.
