Style Kits in Make Plus

Earlier this week we released a new version of Make Plus, the powerful companion plugin for our new free drag and drop WordPress theme, Make.

One of the new Make Plus features is Style Kits. Think of them like custom starter themes for Make. Style Kits give you a head start with the design of your Make powered site. When you load a Style Kit, we’ll populate your Customizer design settings for your site with some hand picked style choices. You can then take control and tweak each the individual setting to get things just right.

Did you know that Surf Office, Postmatic, Yeah Dave, and over 700,000 small businesses run their websites with Make, our free WordPress page builder. Discover the Make page builder now.

Here’s the rundown on the rest of the new features we released:

  • Page duplication: Duplicate any builder page with the click of a button. This makes assembling a site even faster.
  • New quick start templates: We’ve added two brand new quick start page builder templates, Shop and Photography.
  • Easy Digital Downloads: We’ve added page builder support and styles for the popular Easy Digital Downloads plugin.

Let us know what you think

We’re excited to see all the beautiful websites being built with Make in just the first couple of weeks since we’ve launched. If you’ve got any feedback or ideas for Make or Make Plus be sure to let us know in the comments!

Can Style Kits be saved somehow?

( You’re 75% of the way there after altering one of the pre made Style Kits – so, you save your own Style Kit.
Then you go nuts and play around with some other crazy alterations and decide later you want to get back to your last saved 75% mark. Whew, luckily you saved your customized Style Kit. )

    Hi Kelter!

They cannot be saved at this point. We’ve discussed this feature and agree that it would be really great. Stayed tuned as we are working hard to add new features. We may decide to add this in the future.

    Thanks for the great suggestion!

It would be nice to see demo pages in live view of all the quick start templates!

Good idea Bob! We can take a look at adding these to a demo site.

Hi guys. Great job on the Make theme. I’m trying out the free version on a new project of mine with good results thus far.

A couple of thoughts/suggestions based on my use thus far:

1.) I was a bit bummed on the limitation of visual editor controls in the column sections that I add to a page. I realize you probably do that on purpose to keep things simple, but it’d be nice if my clients had a few easy buttons to create a bulleted/numeric list in those areas, center their text, etc… Those are controls I think would come in handy for those columns.

2.) Regarding the slideshow, maybe I was doing something wrong but I didn’t see a way in which I could make the entire slide a link to a specified URL. The inability to do so is going to keep my from using this built-in slider, and instead force me to rely on a separate plugin for this purpose.

Don’t get me wrong. These are minor gripes in an overall stellar product. Keep up the good work!

Hi Evan! Thanks for the kind words about Make :)

    1. You’re right, we’ve intentionally removed some of this functionality to keep everything clean and simple.

    2. Correct; entire slides cannot be wrapped in a link. Instead, you’ll want to add a link to your slide content.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Galleries made using the builder have a masonry like feature only in the Make plus or this kind of thing is not available at all? Thanks.

    Hi ckubs!

We do not use Masonry in Make or Make Plus. What exactly do you mean by “masonry like feature”? Perhaps we are talking about two different things.
