We’re a small creative business based in Lisbon, Portugal, and your themes were the best thing that happened to us. We wanted to share our stories and dreams with the world through a beautiful, responsive, and well-designed magazine theme. When we came across Oxford, we immediately knew that was the perfect theme for us. I’m glad you guys exist and I hope we keep seeing beautiful things coming from you. Thank you for everything.
We have customers all around the world. Below are their stories and experiences with The Theme Foundry. Visit the links to view live examples of our themes.
I LOVE Theme Foundry themes. I started out with Traction in 2010 and switched to Make Plus last year. We’ve been getting a lot of mileage out of Make — more with each update.
IWRC is a nonprofit organization that provides courses on wildlife rehabilitation. We are also increasingly using our website as a knowledge communication tool – creating some dialogue between board, staff, members, and the public and getting information out to everyone. One of our newest projects is working with Animal Help Now to create a clickable map of North America that lets people know what the wildlife care licensing regulations are in their state or province.
I’m a technology reporter who is deeply interested in the history of technology. After writing a book about the smartphone industry, I decided to create a website that would collect and preserve stories about smartphone development. (The site tagline: “Interviews & stories about how your smartphone came to be.”)
My background is in print journalism, so I wanted my site to resemble a magazine in some aspects, but also look modern to reflect its focus on technology. I decided to use The Theme Foundry’s Duet theme because the dual column format evoked the feeling of a print magazine article. I also liked how Duet integrated typographical devices such as a bright asterisk to mark the end of a story. I think the finished site strikes a balance between a traditional and contemporary aesthetic — and the default orange color scheme adds a welcome punch.
This was my first time buying a WordPress theme and I had some concerns about potential technical and customization issues. Fortunately, The Theme Foundry’s support service has been quick, friendly and comprehensive.
When I started my blog nearly three years ago I wanted a clean, uncluttered theme. After much searching I found exactly what I was looking for in The Theme Foundry’s Linen theme. My blog covers food, country life, travel and photography. Photos are key to all my posts and I love how the Linen theme has a slider on the homepage for Featured Posts, enabling readers to browse posts by large photo. I also love the thumbnail photo that the Linen theme generates for each post, enabling an automatic list of posts with appropriate photograph on the homepage. I absolutely love how my blog looks using the Linen theme. I have read advice from blogging experts about changing your theme from time to time. Each time I look through the available themes I am reminded how much I love Linen and how much it suits my needs. I have no plans to change it.
After spending a decade visiting the ancient temples and cultures of the world, I decided to document my findings in a blog. For a design, I envisioned the colors and textures of a fine-press, the kind in which the earliest books were printed by Gutenberg. The “Duet” theme perfectly suited this aesthetic. It is already catered to a writers needs, with elegant typography and spacing. All I needed to add was a background of hand-made paper (easily done through the wordpress dashboard), and the result was a digital fine-press book!
The Theme Foundry’s staff have answered my questions promptly, and although my knowledge of WordPress is very limited, their help has enabled me to launch my own site on a surprisingly professional level.
I’m an Italian avid traveler (both for business and for leisure) and I have an insane passion for photography. I always bring one of my cameras with me, and to share my clicks, time ago I decided to start my photo-blog Photographing Around Me. It’s a random showcase: some photos are uploaded instantaneously, some others are quite old and come from my far memories; but this is the philosophy of Photographing Around Me: no rules, just what I see or I have seen through my lens.
The first time I surfed through Avid theme, I immediately understood that this theme was perfectly in line with the concept of Photographing Around Me. Now that I have more than 400 posts and quite a large number of daily visitors. Avid is the right theme if you want to share your memories (even in a random order as I do!), whereas categories and tags keep everything in the right order; the workflow, from the photo’s composition and capture to the upload and the post creation, is extremely easy for me and makes blogging as a natural continuation of photographing (around me, of course!).
As a WordPress expert who teaches non-techy solopreneurs how to use WordPress to create beautiful, dynamic websites fast, the Make theme and I are a match made in heaven! I not only use Make Plus, I teach my students how to create unique gorgeous sites with Make! It really is the perfect theme for someone who wants to get up and running fast without code or headaches. Plus The Theme Foundry’s customer service is ah-mazing! I have rarely needed it because Make is so easy to use – but when I did they responded to my questions lightening-fast.
I like swordfighting, tall ships, lady pirates, zeppelins, and sci-fi. When I’m not fighting fictional foes or unfurling imaginary sails, I am a copywriter and content strategist working in Melbourne, Australia.
After being in business for over 9 years, my website was crying out for a professional rebrand. My personal blog is also important to what I do, and I was looking for a clear, unfussy layout that readers would find easy tonavigate and enjoy.
Obviously the words are really important to my business! For this reason I would have chosen any one of The Theme Foundry’s themes. It’s clear that the developers care about both functionality and beautiful design. I use Basis, which is a gorgeous, responsive theme that allows you to drag and drop text and images in any way you like. The typography is fantastic, and reads like a magazine – allowing blocks of text to compliment the images.
Before my purchase, The Theme Foundry staff were really helpful, and answered any questions over email. If I need any more websites I will be back!

I am a ceramic bead jewelry artist and a professional designer. The Watson theme is the ideal theme for me because of its clean, simple and elegant design, functionality and ease of use.
I needed a web site that would enable me to showcase my ceramic beads and classes that I offer for teaching my techniques. The Watson theme has exceeded my expectations in every way. I am thrilled with the comments I am receiving about my beads, classes and web site!
I’m a lifestyle blogger based in Leicester, England. My blog is both a creative outlet and a way of engaging with my local community. I wanted a simple, responsive theme with retina support and eye-catching typography which would provide an attractive showcase for my articles.
Watson ticked all these boxes and more. I was extremely impressed by how user-friendly the theme was and how straightforward it was to migrate my existing blog over. Browsing through the advice in the forums and viewing the video and blog tutorials provided extra levels of guidance on top of the theme documentation. It’s this additional support, along with the beauty and simplicity of the theme itself, that make The Theme Foundry such excellent value.
I am Italian-American, raised by immigrant parents with a passion for food, family and life. My art and creative design career gave me the opportunity to travel and experience many cultures and the food, drink and people that make them so impressive. My dream has been to create a personal food blog and I instantly liked Watson for my blog; I was looking for a magazine-style, clean layout with a well chosen font and layout options allowing my food and travel stories and photos to be the feature on each post.
I found Watson very easy to set-up and the video tutorial was invaluable as I went through each section and reviewed the available options. The Theme Foundry’s support team was very responsive and easy to work with during the initial development stages and even checked in with me to be sure all was going well! Thank you for all the help and for developing a theme that has helped my food blog come to life.
I love to create new worlds to explore, populating them with mysterious characters who harbor hidden agendas and conceal secrets kept darkly under the bed. I savor the challenge of assuming different roles in life, living with the voices in my head, listening to their stories unravel and spill onto a blank page. Writing releases the pent up swirling chaos inside my head and motivates me to search for cracks in the air, where new realities avail themselves to a curious mind.
I’ve been using themes from The Theme Foundry since their early days, and I’m always impressed by the code quality, flexibility and aesthetics originating from The Theme Foundry developers. I never worry about support or technical assistance because The Theme Foundry support staff provides friendly, timely and responsive customer service. I love the versatility of Make and how creatives can adapt it to their content. Make is, indeed, the cat’s meow. Cheers!
I love to share photographs. Avid has made sharing my work easy and beautiful. I can post large images, and my photo sales plugin integrated seamlessly.
The Theme Foundry has provided fantastic support via email and through their forums. It’s nice to work with folks that love what they do as much as I do. I am a very happy customer.
I am an visual artist from Augsburg, Germany. When planning the rebuild of my website, for my graphic and print graphic work, I was drawn to the beautiful and focused WordPress themes by The Theme Foundry. At first I had a look at the free Make theme and became immediately aware of the code quality, flexibility and aesthetics originating from The Theme Foundry’s work.
To keep things simple I purchased Portfolio which I found clean, precise and very easy to customize. The support staff answered even difficult questions almost immediately. It is a pleasure to work with you. Thank you very much.
As composers who score for TV, film and venues; we needed a fresh site to deliver music and video content in a “2.0″ way.
The Shelf Theme was not only fun, but practical. Since it comes with a child theme, we could tailor it to our hearts’ content; then populate the site with audio and video players so folks could audition our music. We especially like the way our visitors can now interact with us. That kind of engagement just wasn’t possible before our WordPress re-design.
I have been a mobile DJ since 2005, first specializing in school/teen events but now I entertain at weddings. Music and lighting production is a great creative outlet where no two events are the same. Being a wedding DJ allows me to connect with each couple and ensure that they have an unforgettable evening.
About three years ago I rebranded my website with WordPress and Linen, by The Theme Foundry. I felt that The Theme Foundry offered amazing themes for a fair price with excellent service. As a DJ I am selling an experience with no physical goods. Upgrading to Make allowed me to easily enhance my site and give it a new clean look with large visuals that highlight the fun people have.
Ewing Creative is a graphic and advertising design firm. We know that design is pivotal, that it turns heads and that it can persuade or dissuade. Applying this understanding with talent is how we help our clients succeed.
To date we’ve used 3 of your beautifully designed themes and could not be happier with The Theme Foundry’s timely, friendly tech support. Serious consideration is made to the end-user when building functionality into your themes. We chose to use the Photography theme when redesigning our own website — This gives us a great vehicle to show our clients just how easy content management can be.
I started BBQ Insanity last summer as a blog on all things barbecue related. Never having used WordPress, I jumped right in, but soon found that there’s such a thing as too much choice! I quickly got bogged down trying lots of sub-optimal themes that never quite got me the cohesive look and feel I wanted for the site. It had no identity, it was a mess.
As soon as I saw the Traction theme I knew it was the one for me. I was able to totally redesign my website in the space of a weekend and relaunch what I think is now a much cleaner and polished website. Now I can focus my time and energy on writing quality content and not on site design. I’ve found the forums to be very helpful, empowering me to make any tweaks I’ve needed along the way. I consider themes from The Theme Foundry as money well spent!
I’m an Australian country boy who grew up and moved to the city – Sydney. I am a lyric based singer-songwriter, a short story writer and a producer of audio works of my words for broadcast. I am thankful to have a voice that can sing my words, speak them or leave them in silence, for reading.
I searched far and wide for a website template that would best present my works to an audience in a way that I was envisioning. I approached this task as a total novice, with a dream. This dream would not have been realized without the strong support I felt at hand from The Theme Foundry. The team was always there to help me out and advise me along the way. I really needed the strong and friendly support that I got from them as I was working alone in territory unknown to me. I highly recommend The Theme Foundry’s service and I am very thankful for it.
Christopher Columbus did not prove the earth was round. In fact, there never was a time when people believed the earth was flat, despite what we’re told in high school.
As the historian of science at Haverford College, this tenacious myth and others like it trouble me. My site is one place where I analyze the uses and abuses of the history of science in the media, society, and politics. I also use my site to showcase my research and writing, my speaking, and my teaching.
Make is the third theme I’ve used from The Theme Foundry — React, Basis, and now Make, which offers more flexibility and creative options. The Theme Foundry’s themes are clean and modern, and allow me to promote my work. The support is excellent, prompt, and friendly. I continue to recommend The Theme Foundry to colleagues.
I run a personal finance site called Three Thrifty Guys. Our aim is to help folks keep a few more bucks in their pockets (and purses) :)
I’ve been a very happy customer of The Theme Foundry’s for over 5 years now. We started our personal finance blog on the Vigilance theme and then most recently switched to Make. We love it! Make is a very robust theme with endless customization possibilities.
We’re now about to do a lot of different things with all of the options that Make gives us.
We’re a small group of developers, interface designers, and engineers that craft exceptional user experiences. We work on projects of our own and help clients large and small create software that their customers love. We begin every project with the same goal: to meet user needs and make the boundaries of technology disappear.
Chalk was the perfect theme for our blog—sleek and professional, with a unique look and a variety of different content types.
I had been running my own web design company for some time but knew it was time for a re-brand. I spent ages searching for the right theme, but they all seemed to blur into one. Then I found The Theme Foundry! I loved the strong, striking layout offered by the Make theme and how it enables me to layout my site pages with a strong focus on my elemental photography and unique web design process. Make enables me to stand out from the crowd – within three days of launching my new site, I’d had several enquiries complementing me on my bold and stylish approach.
Right after buying the theme I had a couple of set-up questions, which were answered within hours on the support forum in a friendly, concise way. I’ll come back to The Theme Foundry to purchase themes for my clients, and would recommend them to anyone wanting to build high-quality sites which truly stand out.
I am a French amateur photographer, mostly working in Black & White. When looking for a theme to display my photographs online, I wanted something uncluttered just like my images. The Theme Foundry’s Portfolio template has been by far the best theme I have found to meet my criteria. Portfolio has been perfect in being flexible and responsive to fit the growing use of mobile devices.
Being not a computer “geek”, I realize when customizing my theme that The Theme Foundry, besides offering stunning themes, also provide an incredible technical support. The Team has been incredibly friendly, helpful and responsive and no issue goes unresolved. You Guys are awesome!
While researching easy-to-use and high quality tools for my Journopreneur Workshop sessions, I came across The Theme Foundry. Having built various WordPress sites before, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the themes and the cleverness of the back end technology.
Combined with stunning design, sharp pricing and solid back-end support and forum help, The Theme Foundry offer is perfect for media freelancers of all kinds. Not only did I find a great resource to share with my workshop participants; I ended up building my own website with the Portfolio theme as well.
I have grown up and lived in so many different places that it’s difficult for me to say where I am from in a simple phrase. I have come to a realization that home is where your heart and dreams are even if it is just an idea in your head. With this in mind, I have started my blog to explore the theme of home through photographs and text. An interview section is coming up, too!
Aesthetics are very important to me and as I like a clean look, I was searching for a theme that would be simple and elegant and yet allow for a lush visual experience. I opted to go with Anthem and have been happy that I did. It is ready-to-use and easy to handle even if you are a beginner in the world of blogging.
I am an Austrian geomancer thrilled with the use of luxurious incense in order to perform professional space clearing ceremonies. I combine exquisite ingredients to create highly effective, traditional recipes for individual fumigations in residential, business and public spaces. My site introduces and explains these services.
Make is the 2nd theme (after React) I bought from The Theme Foundry. I simply love their themes as they are stylish and easy to use, thus looking like custom-made websites. Make is a genuine masterpiece, I could not find something comparable on the market. And although the guys are sitting almost at the other end of the globe, I am getting quick and super friendly support as if they were located just around the corner.
Run by diggers for diggers, Diggingthedirt is your daily dose of news, features, links and belly laughs from British, Irish and World Archaeologists scattered to the four corners of the wind. Proceed with caution: when you dig up the past, all you get is dirt!
I’ve been a fan of The Theme Foundry since my move to WordPress from Blogger two years ago (made a whole lot easier thanks to their involvement!). My technical skills are limited, so access to the support forum has been amazingly helpful, and has the feel of a small community all pulling in the same direction. Social media integration has really helped build a following to the point now where the website is paying for itself. On to my fourth theme now – and look forward to redecorating the website with a new one soon!
Since the beginning I have been a fan of The Theme Foundry’s work. After using one of the first themes for awhile, I now run Watson on my personal blog. I also work as a designer and am currently working on my portfolio using the Basis theme.
I love the design, the readability and, maybe most of all, the ecosystem The Theme Foundry has built over the years. You can depend on the themes and the support. Thanks a lot.
My own “little” business is to sell small but neat gifts to say thanks. My website is the marketing engine for it.
From the beginning, 4 years ago, I have been using themes from The Theme Foundry. They are number one in terms of clean, sexy and simple design. There is no twisting of WordPress functionalities and they offer continuous updates and prompt replies when support was needed. In my opinion Make (Plus) is the best theme on the WordPress market.
Happy Life Maldives Guesthouse is a small boutique guesthouse on the local island Dhiffushi in the Northern Male Atoll. We built the whole guesthouse from the ground with our own hands. We are striving to make our little place in paradise as beautiful as the Maldives are, so design, interior and looks are a big one for us. That’s where The Theme Foundry and Portfolio came into the picture.
Knowing that our website would be our predominant sales-channel, we had been looking for a long time for a beautiful but simple and reduced design that would cater for mobile & tablet but at the same time is simple to use and would do our aesthetic ideas justice – voilà! We are super-happy about Portfolio, the support is amazing and fast and we get a lot of very positive feedback on our site. In fact, we believe that we receive more bookings because the site turned out to be so beautiful!
I’m a graphic designer and a photographer, and I love to write. I just recently moved my blog over from WordPress.org to WordPress.com, mostly because I didn’t want to have to deal with the issues of self hosting.
I was so very pleased to see that The Theme Foundry had such excellent themes even for WordPress.com – especially “Duet”, which I fell in love with right away. Following the instructions provided, I’ve been able to easily adapt it to my needs. A blog is such a wonderful medium for writing, and Duet is one of the most beautiful, best suited themes for such a blog I have ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot, believe me.)
I am an American-born Israeli artist searching for ways to infuse observational painting with multilevel meaning and content. I know how important a well-designed website is for showcasing my paintings and presenting texts related to them.
With no experience in website-building I began searching for themes, and while I looked at hundreds of options, I kept finding myself returning to The Theme Foundry website. The clear and quick responses to my pre-purchase questions convince me to take the plunge and go for Portfolio. I then began the creative process of building the site, with their help, overcoming the added hurdle of a bilingual site with languages that read in two directions (English and Hebrew). I don’t think I have learned this much since first grade! All of you at the Theme Foundry actually convinced me that you have nothing better to do than help me out, so you have only yourselves to blame that I have taken full advantage of that :-) I am very happy with the result, and I look forward to continue improving the site and filling it with new images and words.
I am a photographer and recently decided that it was time to have my own website to show my portfolio to the world :) I think that beauty is in simplicity and when I found The Theme Foundry’s Photography template I knew that it is exactly what I wanted.
Although I have no experience working with websites, Photography was really user friendly and it took me no time at all to get the hang of things. I am really happy to finally have my own website and love the professional look!
As a professional journalist and writer, I looked long and hard for an easy-to-use theme that would showcase my writing portfolio and enable my readers to post comments.
The Watson theme exceeded my expectations for both ease of use and design (the font, for example, is remarkably clean, distinctive and readable). I continue to receive positive reviews of my stories and web site. I highly recommend the Theme Foundry.
